Giselle Kennedy Lord earned a master's of gastronomy from Boston University after a decade working as a documentary videographer specializing in food and agriculture. Giselle's research focused on how people express identity and sense of place through food and she was named James Beard National Scholar Northwest in 2018. Giselle is the co-author of The Ark of Taste: Delicious and Distinctive Foods that Define the United States, published in the Fall of 2023 and nominated for a James Beard Award and an IACP award in 2024. She first encountered the Ark of Taste while working as the director of communications for Slow Food USA and has been an advocate of biodiversity and the preservation of historical foodways ever since. She currently works for the Farmer's Conservation Alliance and continues to write and speak about food in diaspora whenever possible. She lives and cooks in Portland, Oregon, with her family. @gisellekennedylord
